Reflection #4

Final Individual Cultural Diversity Course Reflection #4

In UAE we live with more than 180 nationalities that have many different cultures, that’s why we are studying the cultural diversity class at HCT. Cultural Diversity class is one of the most important classes I enjoyed; I think the subject is very important because it tell us the difference between people from different cultures and how to communicate with each other’s.

It is bad to hate people because of their color, age, religion, gender, and culture because they are humans just like us. I also learned how to communicate with my house made and how to respect her and show my wife that she is a human. That’s why the subject is important to teach because if you travel to any places from different cultures nothing will be weird for you some people will hate you and some will try to learn from you.

It is not important what age you learn cultural diversity, however if you teach it to kids the idea will grow faster to them like the video for blue and brawny eyes. If they learned that racism is bad they wont hate other people later however if they grew up without knowing they wont know that it is wrong. I like the classes that show us the videos because I can understand better when I saw these films.

If the UAE is going to celebrate harmony day it will be one of the best places because they already have people from different cultures and traditions. I think it will be interested when we celebrate this day by every people wear clothes from different cultures. For example, Emiratis wear a cowboy and the cowboys wear the Candora.

In conclusion, I think culture diversity class very important but it’s quite hard for the new students, because some concepts are hard to explain for those people, which are in the first semester.

Exercise 10 c

Exercise 10 C:

1- Jackie Robinson ways to fight discrimination

Jackie Robinson was the first African American Major League baseball player to break the barrier between races. Even with all the teasing and threats he received, Jackie Robinson never gave up. He was a daring, fearless, and friendly man, which makes him an admirable figure.  He is a hero for all the African Americans because he opened the door to Major League Baseball for African Americans. This was a very difficult and tedious task to accomplish, and Robinson was the right man for the job. For most of his career, he was glorified for his playing ability and always spoke his mind. Jackie Robinson was also a hero to many people. He was a spokesperson for his people, a national hero, and an important historical figure. Robinson was always greeting new players on the team and making them feel welcome, showing them great kindness. He always went out of his way to help rookies play their best. He wouldn't stop at anything to end discrimination and segregation in America.

2- Rosa Parks’s ways to fight discrimination

Rosa Parks was born in Tuskegee, Alabama on February 4th, 1913. After her parent's divorce, her mother moved Rosa and her siblings to Pine Level, Alabama, where Rosa's maternal grandparents resided. Both of her grandparents were former slaves, and while growing up on their farm, Rosa was strongly influenced by their advocating of equal rights. On the first of December 1951, Rosa Parks left work for the day; she worked as a seamstress in a department store. As she rode the bus home, the bus filled and soon the white half of the bus was full, leaving white passengers standing. The bus driver stopped the bus and told the first row of black passengers to get up; the other three passengers in Rosa's row did so, but Rosa refused. Rosa was arrested for her refusal to give up her seat. Following her arrest, the NAACP organized a bus boycott in support of Rosa and racial equality.

Exercise 10B

Exercise 10B:

The UAE ensure the human rights of workers by giving them the freedom of expression, as well as freedom of religion to every person or worker can do his prayers and practice his religious all the goodwill, and women's rights is a good thing that the UAE government to ensure women's rights through the employed and educated. Trafficking illegal as the law says, and so the government is not best to stop it, such as in March 2007 it was reported that the UAE has deported more than 4,300 sex workers, mainly from Dubai. It is important because every human being has rights, and to keep the country safe by stopping the rioting workers.
